United Nations Human Rights
Equality between women and men, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women are fundamental human rights outlined by the Declaration of Human Rights and core values of the United Nations. Together, with our Global Partner United Nations Human Rights, WE ALL RISE is dedicated to promoting gender equality around the world and making sustainable positive advancements towards true equality for all women and girls.
We are guided and inspired by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Goals which recognize that gender equality is fundamental to delivering on the promises of sustainability, peace and human progress and there can be no sustainable development without gender equality.
Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) is dedicated to achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls and outlines key targets and indicators necessary for progress.
End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere
Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation
Eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation
Recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work through the provision of public services, infrastructure and social protection policies and the promotion of shared responsibility within the household and the family as nationally appropriate
Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life
Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights
Undertake reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and other forms of property, financial services, inheritance and natural resources, in accordance with national laws
Enhance the use of enabling technology, in particular information and communications technology, to promote the empowerment of women
Adopt and strengthen sound policies and enforceable legislation for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels
Right to a Better World
Developed by United Nations Human Rights to advance gender equality, Right to a Better World is a documentary video series that explores how human rights-based tactics can be used to achieve sexual and reproductive health rights for all — and drive meaningful progress towards the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
